JUAN MATA UNDERSTANDS THAT SHOCK DEFEAT TO LEICESTER LEFT A “BAD TASTE” AND WANTS TO CHANGE THAT THIS WEEKEND

Man United host Leicester City this weekend after their disappointing 0-0 draw away at Cambridge United in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday night.

The clash might make some of the Old Trafford faithful a tad nervous after the Red Devils lost 5-3 to Leicester in the reverse fixture, despite leading 3-1 with only 30 minutes left to play.

Manchester United reveal massive figures paid to Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes last year
Juan Mata has spoken out about the game this weekend on his official blog, stating that he understands that defeat to the Foxes earlier in the season wasn’t acceptable and that the players want to give the fans good results. Furthermore, the midfielder revealed that the club are “already” focusing on the game on Saturday.

“Good results are the best reward for you, I know, that’s why we are already focusing on the game against Leicester City in Old Trafford the next weekend.” Mata said,

“The previous match with them left us with a bad taste; we want to change that and offer a good game to our crowd.”

Man United have only won two matches out of their last six in all competitions and those two victories came against Yeovil Town and Queen’s Park Rangers.

Whilst Louis Van Gaal certainly led his side on a brilliant run throughout November and December, it seems as though the good results are not coming as regularly as before.

Three points against Leicester City on Saturday would be the perfect way for the Dutch manager to start another winning run with United.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S JUAN MATA TALKS ABOUT THE ‘WARNING SIGN’ THEY MUST NOT IGNORE

Manchester United's Juan Mata has been reflecting on an interesting weekend of FA Cup action.

Manchester United play-maker Juan Mata has written his usual Monday blog entry, with specific focus on the club’s recent FA Cup clash with Cambridge United.

Louis van Gaal’s side were held to a 0-0 draw by the impressive League Two club, and Mata commented on that along with the shock results that followed on Saturday.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur were all eliminated from the competition on a weekend of giant-killings and Mata explained that his side would not have it easy in the Old Trafford replay.

“On paper, it may seem easy to beat a team of a lower division,” he wrote. “It is not.
“We just have to take the example of last Saturday, with two big clubs being knocked out at home. It reminds us that the FA Cup is full of surprises.

“Also, it should be a warning sign for us ahead of our replay.”

United welcome Cambridge a week on Wednesday, but before that they have an important Premier League match against a Leicester City side who have already defeated them once this season.

The Foxes won 5-3 earlier in the campaign and United will want to get revenge for a result few saw coming.

They will then turn their attention back to a FA Cup campaign that could yet lead to success, if they can overcome their resilient opponents and avoid the remaining big guns in the next few rounds.

JUAN MATA REVEALS HE’S LUCKY TO MOVE FROM CHELSEA TO MANCHESTER UNITED

Spaniard midfielder Juan Mata claims that he is lucky to move from Chelsea to Manchester United. The 26-year-old was signed by the Old Trafford at a club-record fee of 42.5 million pounds.

According to the Daily Star, Mata considers his transfer to Manchester United as a complete fortune on his side despite rumours that it is perceived as a dig at his former club. As he would put it, “Obviously, you feel very lucky to come here in a transfer like that.”

The Spaniard midfielder considers the move as a big one. Despite the pressure on players, Mata is aimed at giving back to Old Trafford the huge confidence that was placed upon him by signing him in to the club.

Mata cannot mask his overwhelming happiness about the transfer, more so that he was warmly welcomed, not only by fans, but most especially by his club and teammates. It's another surge of inner victory for a transfer like that to be welcomed so warmly. It's an added bonus to the already generous and lucky transfer. Mata claims that it's incredible experience to get a massive positive response like that.

The Spaniard midfielder did not mind that his fees got dwarfed when Manchester United snapped up Angel Di Maria for 59.5 million pounds during summer. It did not shrink the midfielder's high emotions regarding the transfer. For him, the transfer is as good as the sign-up fee. He can't complain especially looking at the people's reaction to his transfer and how he felt so warmly welcomed like a family who just got his way back home.

As Juan Mata considers the transfer “lucky” from the beginning, there could probably be nothing that can get in the way for him not to feel so fortunate these days. A matter of perspective, one must say.

JUAN MATA EYES LEICESTER CITY REVENGE

Juan Mata has admitted that Manchester United are determined to gain a positive result from their Premier League encounter against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier in the season, United held a 2-0 and 3-1 advantage at the King Power Stadium, but the hosting Foxes eventually won the controversial encounter 5-3.

With the return meeting coming up, playmaker Mata has expressed United's desire to banish the result that left "a bad taste".
"Good results are the best reward for you, I know, that's why we are already focusing on the game against Leicester City at Old Trafford at the weekend," the Spaniard wrote in his blog.
"The previous match with them left us with a bad taste. We want to change that and offer a good game to our crowd."

Leicester have not won at Old Trafford since Tony Cottee scored the only goal of the game back in January 1998.

TIME FLIES BY! JUAN MATA OPENS UP ON ONE-YEAR MAN UTD ANNIVERSARY

JUAN MATA has explained he is surprised at how quickly time has flown by for him at Old Trafford.

The diminutive Spanish playmaker joined Manchester United from Chelsea in a £37.1m deal last January and marked his one-year anniversary at the club last week.

Mata has hit some good form in recent weeks and has chipped in with five league goals this term.

Whilst a draw in the FA Cup away to Cambridge on Friday raised eyebrows, Mata insists he has enjoyed every minute with the Red Devils.

"Time flies! It seems it was yesterday when I stepped on Carrington for the first time, when I met my team-mates and had the first training session with them," Mata wrote in his blog One Hour Behind

"Twelve months have gone since then, and the truth is I feel like everything has passed really fast.

"In this 365 days I have lived many special moments, with a lot of good times and some disappointments too, but I have always felt privileged for being where I am.

"The United staff, the fans and my team-mates have been fantastic with me since the very first day, and it’s because of them that Manchester United is such a great and important club worldwide.

"For all these reasons and many more I want to thank you all and to keep the same mentality that I had when I came here: to compete, to get better and to do my bit for the benefit of the team and the club."

Mata also thanked the fans for their continued support and says he hopes to share some more special moments with them in the future.

He added: "Thank you once again for being there, day after day, week after week and year after year.

"I have lived a lot of things in my first year in Manchester United, I’m very happy and I hope both you and me enjoy great moments in the future."

The Manchester United duo were on hand to help launch the club's new partnership with Swissquote

Angel di Maria and Juan Mata appeared to be in good spirits as they joined David De Gea and Robin van Persie to launch Manchester United’s new partnership with Swissquote on Monday.

The Red Devils announced the deal with Switzerland’s principal online bank to make it United’s first Official Global Forex and Online Financial Trading Partner.
And the four United stars looked to be in upbeat mood, despite their disappointing goalless draw with Cambridge United in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday night.

Swissquote’s services include online trading, foreign exchange as well as online private banking to its network of retail and professional customers.
“Swissquote are one of the top 10 largest Forex brokers in the world and are by far the strongest and most reliable competitor in the market,” said Manchester United Group managing director Richard Arnold.

“The technology and services they offer are superior to anything else available, offering customers the ability to take their finances into their own hands.

“Much like Manchester United, Swissquote strives for perfection, looking to innovate, influence and enhance the industry it works within by recreating the future of banking.”
The Swissquote trading room is connected to over 60 stock markets in over 40 countries.

By teaming up with Manchester United, Swissquote’s ultimate goal is to work with the club to share its expertise to a wider global audience.

JUAN MATA SAYS MANCHESTER UNITED NEWBIE MARCOS ROJO CLAIMS TO BE A FREE-KICK TAKER

The summer signing from Sporting Lisbon fancies his chances over the wall.

Manchester United fans will certainly remember their former defender Gabriel Heinze. The Argentine was at the club between 2004 and 2007 before leaving for Real Madrid in rather acrimonious circumstances.

One thing he did have a reputation for whilst at the club was trying to muscle in on the free-kick taking. It was clear the Argentine felt he had a wand of a left-boot. Now, a fellow Manchester United Argentine who plays the exact same positions as Heinze thinks the same thing.

Juan Mata has been speaking to ManUtd.com about the club's free-kick takers, where he revealed that summer signing Marcos Rojo has made it clear he can swing them in. But Mata doubts it:

"The manager decides [who takes them] before each match. We have very good takers. We have Wazza [Wayne Rooney]. Ander [Herrera] can take them, then there is Angel [Di Maria] and Marcos Rojo says he can take them too, although I don't know about that yet!
"Robin [van Persie] as well, so we have some good options."
The list of United free-kick takers is certainly long, so Rojo has a while to wait in the queue. It would seem Mata will be taking them ahead of him for one. Rojo must be getting sick of Mata stealing his thunder.

The pair contested who got the winning goal against Stoke City back at the start of December, after Rojo claimed to get a flick on Mata's in-swinging free-kick.

That goal was credited to the Spaniard. The least he could do is let Rojo have a go from a free-kick. Otherwise he is destined to be another Heinze, the odd man out of the discussion on the edge of the box.

Can you see Rojo bending it like Beckham?

CARRICK HERALDS MATA'S FIRST YEAR

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has hailed team-mate Juan Mata’s contribution to the side as the Spaniard prepares to celebrate his one-year anniversary as a Red.

The former Chelsea man put pen to paper on a then club-record deal worth £37.1million on 25 January 2014 and Carrick believes his acquisition has been an important one for the United.

“He’s just a little magician, isn’t he? So clever and with so much ability – he’s a pleasure to watch,” Carrick told MUTV. “Playing against him over the years, I knew how good he was and we see it in training every day; some of the things he does really stand out.

“That left foot of his can open up any defence and, despite having such a slight physique, he’s a terrific player.”

In addition to his impressive performances on the pitch, the diminutive forward has become a popular figure in and around the club since making the journey up north, and has even found himself handed an unusual position inside the dressing room.

“I have to say he’s such a nice lad. He speaks English very well and is very intelligent,” the England international added. “He’s even had a little job of translating [for the Spanish contingent] this year!”

MUTV will be showing a special 30-minute documentary marking Juan's first year as a Red on Monday 9 February. Look out for a sneak preview on ManUtd.com this weekend.
