MATA EYES FULL PRE-SEASON

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is looking forward to taking part in a full pre-season campaign for the first time in several years.

Since breaking into Spain’s senior squad in 2009, Mata’s summer international commitments have delayed his close-season return to Chelsea and, before that, Valencia.

 

But with Spain making a surprise early exit from the World Cup, Mata was able to join the Reds’ flight to Los Angeles on Friday and will be with the team for the duration of Tour 2014, presented by Aon, in the USA.

 

He told MUTV: "It will be a different pre-season for me because in the last six or seven years I’ve always had a tournament with the national team and haven’t had a complete pre-season with my team.

 

"So this time I will do the whole tour of the States, which is good for me to prepare for a long and hard season. This is my first pre-season with United and I’m enjoying it: the journey was good, the hotel is nice and the training ground is great."

 

Mata is also looking forward to his first full season with United and excited by what lies in store under new manager Louis van Gaal

 

"It’s the start of a new era for the club, with a new manager and players coming in," he said. "I’m really happy with the manager’s style of football and hopefully at the end of the season we can celebrate something, which would be amazing for him and for us.

Juan Mata 'really happy' with appointment of Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager

Juan Mata thinks Manchester United will be challenging for silverware this year under Louis van Gaal.

 

When Mata signed for United last January, the club were in the midst of a dreadful run of form that cost manager David Moyes his job.

 

Despite the £37.5million arrival of the Spaniard, United could only finish seventh and Moyes was replaced by Van Gaal.

 

United fans will get a first glimpse of their new boss in the dugout on Wednesday night when the Red Devils take on the Los Angeles Galaxy at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

 

Van Gaal has only been in his position for six days, but his arrival has injected optimism into a squad previously short on confidence and Mata is looking forward to a successful season ahead.

United finished 22 points behind winners Manchester City last term, but Mata sees no reason why his team cannot challenge for the Barclays Premier League and other trophies under the vastly experienced Van Gaal.

 

"It's the start of a new era for the club, with a new manager and players coming in," United's club-record signing said.

 

"I'm really happy with the manager's style of football and hopefully at the end of the season we can celebrate something, which would be amazing for him and for us.

 

"We're focused on improving and trying to learn from the manager, to play at our best level during the season. The main idea is to play as a team and compete for titles."

JUAN MATA RARING TO GO FOR START OF MAN UNITED’S SEASON

El ex jugador del Chelsea espera ganar algún título con el holandés en el banquillo y apuesta por el juego en equipo para levantar algún trofeo

La llegada de Louis Van Gaal al banquillo del Manchester United ha sido uno de los grandes movimientos de la Premier League. Tras un año decepcionante con David Moyes al frente, el holandés será el encargado de devolver a los ‘Diablos Rojos’ a la senda de la victoria. Alguien que espera grandes cosas de su nuevo entrenador es el español Juan Mata, jugador del United.

 

“Es el comienzo de una nueva era para el club con la llegada de un nuevo entrenador y de nuevos jugadores”, indicó Mata a la televisión del club inglés, que además afirmó sentirse “contento con el estilo de juego del entrenador y espero que al final de la temporada podamos celebrar algo, que sería increíble para él y para nosotros”, dijo.

 

Los Red Devils preparan la nueva temporada y para ello disputarán varios amistosos contra Los Ángeles  Galaxy, Roma, Inter de Milán y Real Madrid en los Estados Unidos. Mata, junto al resto del equipo, está con ganas de hacer una gran preparación: “Los más importante es prepararse paso a paso y no demasiado duro porque las lesiones pueden llegar”, recalcó el internacional español.

 

“Es importante para nosotros prepararnos física y mentalmente para la larga temporada”, señaló el ex del Chelsea. Juan Mata, espera que a lo largo de la temporada logren aprender mucho del nuevo técnico: “Estamos centrados en mejorar y tratar de aprender del mánager para jugar a nuestro mejor nivel durante la temporada. La idea principal es jugar en equipo y pelear por los títulos”, finalizó el asturiano.

Juan Mata has claimed that he cannot wait to get back into the swing of things at club level, as he nears the end of his holidays following a disastrous World Cup with Spain.

 

Spain endured a horrible attempt to defend their World Cup title in Brazil this summer as they became one of the first sides to be eliminated from the competition, suffering consecutive defeats to Netherlands and Chile, rendering their victory over Australia in the final round of matches meaningless.

 

Mata enjoyed a fine start to his career with Manchester United after signing from Chelsea for a fee of £37 million in January, but will have to start afresh again once he returns from his holidays, with Louis Van Gaal now in charge of matters at Old Trafford.

 

The Spanish playmaker will face increased competition ahead of the new campaign with United making a string of signings and Arturo Vidal potentially the next through the doors, despite the insistence of Juventus that he is not available for sale.

 

Mata has gotten over his miserable international summer now and is relishing returning to domestic affairs, taking to social media to say, “About to finish my holidays and after being ‘off’ for some weeks, I can’t wait to start the new season!”

JUAN MATA VISITA EL CAMPUS

El internacional no faltó a su cita

 

Juan Mata no faltó a su tradicional cita con el campus del Oviedo y hoy visitó a los asistentes en las instalaciones Tensi, en La Pixarra. El internacional español compartió unos minutos con los más pequeños que disfrutaron e la presencia de uno de los canteranos del conjunto azul que sigue triunfando en la Premier League.

 

Cada vez que uno de los jugadores que se formaron en las categorías inferiores del Oviedo visita el campus, las caras de los asistentes se iluminan. En esta ocasión fue el turno de Juan Mata, que no tuvo problemas en responder las preguntas de los más pequeños.

 

"Siempre digo que me gustaría volver a jugar en el Oviedo, pero lo que más deseo es que el equipo regrese pronto a donde debe estar", aseguró a uno de los más pequeños. Además, señaló a Andrés Iniesta como el compañero que más le había impresionado jugando junto a él y a Messi como rival. De sus mejores recuerdos como técnicos apuntó a Blas García y Tomás en su etapa en El Requexón y salió airoso del brete de uno de los chavales: "¿Qué te pasó con Mourinho?", preguntó el pequeño, Mata esbozó una sonrisa y respondió: "A mí nada", en medio de una carcajada general de los presentes.

 

Una vez recibidos los regalos por parte de los más pequeños y de posar con ellos, los monitores y el presidente del club, Jorge Menéndez Vallina, que también acudió a la cita, Mata tuvo tiempo para hablar de sus sensaciones con respecto a la próxima temporada del Oviedo: "Estuve fuera pero me fui enterando de todos los fichajes y la verdad es que han venido futbolistas con mucho nombre, con mucha experiencia y con ilusión de devolver al Oviedo al lugar que se merece".

 

No hubo tiempo para mucho más, el avión le esperaba para viajar a Manchester, donde le espera el inicio de la pretemporada, en una campaña que vuelve a presentarse apasionante para él.
